Casablanca, April 2026 – As Morocco accelerates national healthcare transformation, driving generational reform in accordance with the High Directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, May God Assist Him, GITEX FUTURE HEALTH AFRICA will debut next week as the first platform in the market to bring together regional and international investors and speakers in one place.
The first-ever edition of GITEX FUTURE HEALTH AFRICA Morocco takes place from 4-6 May at La Foire Internationale de Casablanca and is held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, May God Assist Him, under the authority of Morocco’s Ministry of Health and Social Protection, in strategic partnership with the Mohammed VI Foundation for Sciences and Health (FM6SS), and organised by KAOUN International, the organiser of GITEX events globally.
The three-day expo will converge global healthcare public and private sector stakeholders from 27+ countries and 200 exhibiting brands. While many of these organisations are entering the Moroccan market for the first time, European governments in Spain, Belgium and the UK are also seizing the healthcare opportunity in Africa through financial backing of delegations and participation.
Driving investment outcomes and startup acceleration are award-winning startups looking to expand operations across Africa through Morocco. These startups and entrepreneurs shall be met by global investors with US$10B+ AUM, including international accelerators and institutions not seen in Morocco previously.
Addressing media at the Mohammed VI University of Health Sciences (UM6SS) during the show’s official press conference was H.E. Amine Tehraoui, Minister of Health and Social Protection for Morocco; Professor Youns Bjijou, Managing Director of FM6SS; and Trixie LohMirmand, CEO Global Organiser of GITEX.
H.E. Amine Tehraoui stated: “Held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, May God Assist Him, GITEX FUTURE HEALTH AFRICA is aligned with a strategic momentum driven by the Kingdom: positioning healthcare as a structuring lever for sovereignty, investment, and development across the African continent. At a time when health is becoming a key sector of economic transformation worldwide, Morocco is asserting its position as a credible hub, capable of connecting talent, technologies, investors, and public policy between Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.”
Professor Youns Bjijou added: “Our ambition is to position Morocco as a driving force for continental health sovereignty, with technology placed at the service of people. Our presence here is therefore rooted, above all, in the rigorous implementation of the High Directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, May God Assist Him, relating to the comprehensive reform of our national healthcare system. We are not building a system for the few, but for all. An ecosystem in which the development of tomorrow’s skills, care delivery and technological innovation form part of our DNA will only have true meaning if it serves this shared ambition of social justice and human dignity.”
Morocco’s exclusive forum to amplify the continent’s health sovereignty ambitions
The GITEX FUTURE HEALTH AFRICA Executive Summit will headline the opening day agenda on 4 May, followed by a Future Health Congress from 5–6 May. On 5 and 6 May, the programme shifts to the Future Health Congress, headlined first by the ‘Future Hospitals Forum’ then the ‘Future Care Forum’.
High-level forums organised by Morocco’s health leaders will define the agenda across the three days of the event. The MedAI 2026 International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare, led by FM6SS, brings together global clinicians, researchers, and AI leaders from leading French institutes to advance medical intelligence.
A nexus for regional transformation and global expertise
As a hub for global health innovation organisations, GITEX FUTURE HEALTH AFRICA Morocco welcomes international brands to showcase digital and medical technologies through a world-class exhibition and summit, propelling the continent’s transition towards integrated, data-driven healthcare systems.
The exhibition features a lineup of global industry leaders each bringing critical expertise and technologies to support the development of interoperable, future-ready digital health ecosystems across the region. From national electronic health records and AI-powered diagnostics to smart hospitals and advanced data infrastructure, these innovations are set to redefine care delivery, accessibility, and system resilience across Africa.
Trixie LohMirmand said: “Now is the right time to launch GITEX Future Health Africa in Morocco. AI and frontier technologies have the biggest long term economic and societal impact on the health industry more than other sectors. They are reshaping healthcare at unprecedented speed, from predictive analytics and earlier diagnosis, to digital records, smarter hospitals and more accessible care. The new foundation imperative for a new generation healthcare nation. Morocco has shown strong ambition to build a modern, inclusive, efficient and sovereign healthcare system. GITEX Future Health will serve as a catalyst for the next phase of progress to advancing policy innovation, talent development, technology transfer, investment and global partnerships to help build an intelligent healthcare economy for Morocco and Africa.”
Morocco’s healthcare transformation is a central pillar of its wider social protection agenda, aligning public and private sector efforts to deliver more accessible, high-quality care. Built on strengthened governance, enhanced provision, and investment in human capital, the reform is driven by digital innovation, improving patient access, streamlining care pathways, and enabling more coordinated, data-informed decision-making across the system.
